Smailholm Tower

Smailholm Tower is a 15th-century laird’s residence that was home to ancestors of the great Romantic novelist. The tower provided inspiration to Sir Walter who spent considerable time at the tower during his youth, reportedly for the benefit of his health.

Selkirk

The royal and ancient burgh of Selkirk was where Sir Walter Scott served as Sheriff for 33 years.
